Chad Brown, MEd
Born and raised here in California. I am originally from Southern California where I grew up and attended my early years of school. My very first musical experience was in elementary school playing a snare drum in the band, then began taking piano lessons. I became attracted to the idea of being in a music group, taking private piano lessons continuously and performing musicals with Children's Theatre Experience. Throughout my years in middle school and high school, I participated in many music ensembles including symphonic bands, marching bands and jazz bands playing percussion. When I began going to college in Santa Clarita, CA, I thought I was just going to major in business. I joined the college band just for fun until my director, Dr. KC Manji said, " why don't you major in music?" I said, "you can?" Ever since then, I was inspired to move on and get my degree in music!
While at College of the Canyons, I studied extensively with Dr. KC Manji, Dr. Lydia Lee and Mark Converse where I was accepted to the Applied Music program to develop my basic skills to transfer to a four year university. I eventually decided to attend California State University, Fresno where I earned my BA in Music Education. WhiIe at the university, I had the opportunity to work with some great professors and performers such as Dr. Matthew Darling and Dr. Tony Mowrer. I also performed in the Marching Band, Symphonic Band, Wind Orchestra and Percussion Ensemble at the university. On the side, I was the percussion studio manager and volunteered with a senior citizen band that met at University High School, New Horizon. Since then, I have taught percussion as a program assistant for Selma Unified School District for 3+ years, general music. band, orchestra and choir at a small private school and continuing to teach private music lessons including piano and percussion. I wanted to advance my education so I decided to get my MA in education with an emphasis in Best Practices. I have been teaching private music lessons for 10+ years now and looking to grow my studio for the success of my students!
